We Have Hope

My husband and I lost our home in 2006 when he lost his job and I was pregnant with our second child so we thought the best thing to do was to move to Africa, where my husband was from.

We lived in Africa for over two years and my husband was not able to find a job, no matter how hard he looked. It became time for the children to begin school and we did not have the money to put them in and we were having a hard time getting food and basic supplies. We had to choose if we were going to stay in Africa or if we should come back to the United States.

We decided to come back to the United States but when we came we had no place to stay and all the shelters were full. We stayed in a shelter for 3 nights and then we were referred to the Faith In Action program and then placed in Paul’s Place apartments.

Since I have been here, I have started school to be a medical assistant, my children are in preschool and my husband is working. Thank God for opening the door for us to stay at The Shepherd’s Way. In the future, I see myself going to law school and becoming a successful attorney, having our own home and our family be happy and successful.
